When designing your bedroom and choosing the furniture a special focus is necessary to be dedicated to your wardrobe. A well-designed wardrobe should store all your clothes, shoes, bags and other accessories in a way that makes everything easily accessible and aesthetically pleasing. Below we have gathered some tips to help you in the process of designing the perfect wardrobe.

1. Evaluate your storage needs

The first step in designing the perfect wardrobe is to define your storage needs. You should have a clear view of how much space you would need for each category, for instance, for clothes, shoes, bags and other accessories. Once you know that you can go on and decide how to store each one of them. Starting with the clothes, hanging spaces are more suitable for long dresses, occasion wear, suits and shirts. Shelves are commonly used for folded clothes like your sweatshirts or your winter pullover. Apart from that shelves are also suitable for showcasing your bags, shoes or other accessories. Drawers are mostly used for smaller items such as underwear, socks, tops but based on your preferences you can also use them for gym outfits or jeans. And small size drawers are perfect for jewelry storage. At this point you need to evaluate how many of each you will need to have in your wardrobe.

2. Set a budget

Once you have a better idea of your wardrobe’s size you need to set a budget that is realistic and matches your personal needs. It is essential to decide a budget early on as it is going to be helpful in the upcoming decisions. For your budget to be realistic make sure it reflects not only the size of your wardrobe but also other factors such as the quality of material, the craftsman's work and any unique feature you want it to have.

3. Choose your style

Once the budget is set, you can move on to your style preferences. Normally they should match the rest of the house and specifically your room's aesthetics. To properly complement your room, it is recommended to choose the same materials such as wood, finishes and handles. And if it is in your preferences to do some changes in the overall aesthetics you can play with the colors or different shades of them.

4. Choose your layout

The layout of your wardrobe is crucial for efficiency, maximizing storage capacity and for ensuring a pleasant experience. Based on your space availability we would suggest different layouts. For instance, if you need a lot of space the best choice would be a walk-in wardrobe. It provides you with a lot of space for all your items, better chances for visibility and often a dressing area is integrated in it. While for smaller spaces a sliding door wardrobe or a reach-in wardrobe will be more suitable as they are typically designed for maximizing spaces.

5. Include smart features

As the last step we recommend adding smart features to elevate your wardrobe aesthetically but also functionally. There are a lot of features to be used to improve the whole experience but those most communally used are lighting to ease the visibility, mirrors for functionality and aesthetics and adjustable shelving to help you make the most of your space.
